ContraindicationsContraindicated for pregnant and nursing pets; pets about to be bred, scheduled for surgery within 2 weeks, using immune suppressant, hypotensive or heart medications like digitalis. May interact and potentiate heart, hypertensive diuretic, immune suppressive and CNS depressive medications.
Drug InteractionsCat's Claw may potentiate (strengthen) Coumadin and blood-thinning drugs and liver medications such as Cytochrome P450 3A4 and CYP3A4.
May interact with medications for high blood pressure (antihypertensive drugs); medications that decrease the immune system (Immunosuppressants); diuretics, CNS depressive medications and may strengthen some heart medications.
May also decrease the rate the liver breaks down some medications, including lovastatin (Mevacor), Rimadyl, ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and others.
CautionsCat's Claw may reduce platelet aggregation and is cautioned for pets using blood pressure or blood thinning medications.
